Breathers & Precleaners
Municipalities face diverse challenges in maintaining the infrastructure and services that keep communities running smoothly. From public works and transportation to parks and recreation and public safety, ensuring the efficiency and reliability of municipal equipment is critical. Lubrication Technologies, Inc. (LTI) offers comprehensive lubrication solutions designed to meet the unique needs of municipalities, helping them manage resources effectively and maintain high levels of service.
At LTI, we understand the importance of maximizing productivity, reducing maintenance costs, and providing a safe working environment for municipal employees. Our holistic approach includes advanced lubrication systems, high-performance lubricants, oil analysis services, and customized maintenance programs tailored to the specific needs of municipal operations.
Our ReliaMAX™ Automatic Lubrication Systems deliver precise quantities of lubricant to every lubrication point on various municipal equipment, including wheel loaders, street sweepers, catch basin cleaners, all-season dump bodies, fire apparatus, belt filter presses, and more. These systems maximize the use of available manpower, perform lubrication better than manual methods, and ensure impressive component life. Many of our municipal clients prefer our systems due to our superior workmanship and support.
Our systems for fire apparatus deserve special mention. The industry-standard lubrication systems often require a semi-fluid grease, which can drip on the firehouse floor and lack adequate support for parts or service. Our system offers a different lubricant with better retention, eliminating mess and providing superior support. Additionally, our system uses #2 grease and ensures each lubrication point receives proper lubrication, with a visual indicator for blocked points.
Lubrication Engineers® greases, particularly the Almagard® series, are popular for DPW applications due to their immediate and apparent performance difference. Continued use of these greases generally leads to expanded use of our lubricants. The Almaplex® series is especially effective in wet applications, such as those found in wastewater treatment plants, extending bearing life and providing exceptional protection.
LE’s Monolec® Engine Oils offer significant value. For example, after switching to Monolec Engine Oil, the City of High Point, North Carolina, reduced their annual engine oil usage by 81% in their refuse trucks. Similarly, Kootenai County Solid Waste Department in Idaho documented safe drain intervals of 1,000 hours with no engine life issues, even after 25-30,000 hours of use.
LE’s transmission fluids, such as the 1107/1136/7500 series, reduce operating temperatures, extend fluid life, and prolong transmission life. For instance, the Falmouth DPW resolved annual transmission failures in their Ford E4OD plow trucks by switching to these fluids and now uses LE lubricants throughout their fleet.
Our grease pumps, hose reels, and meters are the preferred choice for many new installations and replacements of older equipment. For instance, we supplied over 60 reels, pumps, and meters to a new DOT facility and installed automatic lubrication systems on New Holland Tractors with Alamo Mowers.
Oil handling and storage are often overlooked for improvement. Today’s equipment demands clean lubricants, making open-top galvanized containers obsolete. Our Xpel™ Storage and Transfer Kits, designed for this task, include color-coded closed-top plastic containers. We also offer bulk fluid and lubricant storage tanks and XCLUDE™ Desiccant Breathers to protect oil from particulate and moisture ingress, ensuring longer fluid and component life.
LE’s Xamine™ Oil Analysis program is an excellent third-party source for verifying safe extended drain intervals and monitoring engines for issues like fuel dilution, coolant contamination, wear, viscosity retention, and more. The web-based service provides a comprehensive view of each unit’s history, and our continuous monitoring ensures you get the most value from your oil analysis program. We also work with clients to reduce lubricant usage, which is not a priority for our competitors.
In applications such as sludge conveyors at wastewater treatment plants, high horsepower electric motors, HVAC blower bearings, and pumps, our LE Xport™ Single Point Lubricators provide labor-free continuous lubrication to difficult-to-access points or critical bearings.
