Lubrication Technologies’ Showcase
John Deere 510 P-Tier Excavator | Automatic Lubrication System Installation
Project Overview
Keeping large excavators properly lubricated is essential for maximizing uptime and extending component life. On this John Deere 510 P-Tier Excavator, we engineered and installed an automatic lubrication system to keep 20 critical lubrication points supplied with grease throughout the workday.
This installation features our Heavy Equipment Yamada® Grease Pump Package, engineered around a high-capacity Yamada® 24 VDC electric grease pump, electronic timer controls, and a series progressive divider valve network. Designed around a standard 35 lb (5-gallon) grease pail, the system provides significantly greater grease capacity than traditional reservoir-style automatic lubrication pumps, making it an ideal solution for large construction and earthmoving equipment with higher grease demands. The system automatically meters grease to the boom, stick, bucket linkage, lift cylinders, bucket pins, dog bone linkage, and H-link assembly, replacing manual greasing with consistent, repeatable lubrication.
Special attention was given to routing and securing the high-pressure tubing throughout the boom and stick to maximize protection and serviceability. Divider valves were strategically positioned to minimize tubing lengths while ensuring accurate grease distribution, and the in-cab electronic controller allows lubrication cycles to be programmed automatically for dependable, hands-free operation.
The system is filled with Lubrication Engineers Almagard® Vari-Purpose Lubricant (3751), an NLGI 1 grease designed to resist water washout, absorb shock loading, and stay in place under severe operating conditions. Together, our Heavy Equipment Yamada® Grease Pump Package and Almagard® 3751 help reduce maintenance time, improve lubrication consistency, and extend the service life of critical excavator components.
