Ball Mill | Open Gear Spray Lubrication System

Project Overview

Ball mills are essential equipment in industries such as mining, energy, and manufacturing, where they are used to grind raw materials into fine powders. These mills are driven by large open gears that operate under heavy loads and harsh environmental conditions. Without proper lubrication, these components are prone to accelerated wear and failure. To address this, an Open Gear Spray System was implemented to deliver a consistent and controlled film of lubricant to the girth gear and pinion interface.

This automatic spray system is designed to deliver lubricant at precise intervals while the gear is rotating, ensuring full tooth engagement with every cycle. The system helps prevent metal-to-metal contact, reduces the risk of pitting and scoring, and lowers operating temperatures. By applying the lubricant only when and where it’s needed, the system minimizes waste and improves efficiency. This reliability upgrade reduces manual labor, extends equipment life, and supports more consistent production uptime in a demanding industrial setting.
