Kiln Chain Lubrication System
Project Overview:
At Lubrication Technologies, we are dedicated to providing advanced lubrication solutions that enhance the performance and longevity of industrial equipment. One of our notable projects involved the installation of a ReliaMAX™ Automatic Lubrication System on a kiln chain. Kiln chains are essential components in rotary kilns, used primarily in the cement, lime, and various mineral processing industries. These chains facilitate the movement and mixing of materials inside the kiln, ensuring uniform heat distribution and efficient processing.
Kiln chains operate in harsh conditions, with exposure to high temperatures, dust, and heavy loads. These challenges can lead to significant wear and tear, making effective lubrication critical for maintaining operational efficiency and reducing downtime. Our automatic lubrication system addresses these challenges by delivering precise and consistent lubrication to critical points on the chain.
The installed system features an oil pump with integrated controls and a 4 KG reservoir, equipped with a low-level switch and pressure gauges. To protect downstream components, we included an in-line 25 Micron oil filter. The system utilizes a fixed output positive displacement pumping element with a push/pull design, serving a progressive distribution system that meters lubricant to two points on the chain. This setup ensures a maximum pressure of 275 bar and includes integrated pressure relief valves for safety.
Additionally, the system incorporates an ILC DMX Series Progressive Divider Valve, configured to provide oil to two points each, with an inline zerk fitting for diagnostic purposes. We used 50 feet of 3/16 stainless high-pressure tubing for all connections, ensuring durability and reliability. The system also includes a 0-2000 PSI pressure gauge.
This system also utilizes Lubrication Engineers’ Monolec 6303 ISO 100 lubricant, renowned for its superior protection and performance. Monolec, a unique additive, creates a single molecular lubricating film on metal surfaces, significantly reducing friction, heat, and wear. This enhances the overall efficiency and lifespan of the equipment, making it an ideal choice for demanding industrial applications.
