Project Overview:
At Lubrication Technologies, we are dedicated to enhancing the performance and longevity of industrial equipment through our advanced lubrication solutions. One of our recent projects involved the installation of a comprehensive chain lubrication system on a calciner. Calciners are critical components in various industrial processes, including chemical production and mineral treatment. They operate at high temperatures to bring about controlled changes in materials, such as removing impurities or altering chemical structures.
Calciners face significant lubrication challenges due to their high-temperature environment and continuous operation, which can lead to increased wear and tear on components. An effective lubrication system is essential to maintain operational efficiency and reduce downtime.
For this installation, we provided a robust lubrication solution featuring a heavy-duty air-operated pump designed for a 120 lb. drum, which includes an air filter regulator, a 13-foot lubricant delivery hose, a drum cover, and a low-level switch. To facilitate quick and efficient drum changeouts, we included a pneumatic pump lift, minimizing downtime.
The system also incorporates a series progressive divider valve, configured to deliver lubricant to two points of application. This ensures precise lubrication, and the valve is housed in a Nema 4X enclosure with a clear viewing window and includes a cycle switch for monitoring lubricant flow. The brush applicator assembly contains a mounting bracket that is easily removable from the topside catwalk to facilitate brush change outs. Stainless braided hoses from the divider valve to the applicator assembly ensure durable and reliable lubrication oil connections.
All connections for the 3/8-inch and 1/2-inch airline utilize nickel-plated brass push lock fittings, ensuring secure and efficient connections. The digital controller allows operators to view real-time status of the lubrication system, display specific fault codes, and manually override to start a new lubrication cycle. This controller is also mounted in a Nema 4X enclosure and requires 110 VAC power. To alert personnel to low-lubricant or no-flow conditions, an LED red strobe light is included, with fault monitoring dry contacts available for connection to existing SCADA systems.
The automatic lubrication system automates precise delivery of lubricant to the calciner drive chain, eliminating the need for personnel to climb to the top of the calciner and manually apply oil to this rotating asset. By maintaining optimal lubrication, the system helps ensure increased productivity, increased personnel safety, and extended equipment life.
In summary, our installation of the automatic lubrication system on the calciner showcases our commitment to providing innovative and effective solutions tailored to the unique needs of industrial equipment.
