How PH2oenixTM Oil Membrane Dehydrators Work

Use with gear oils up to 3000 cSt. (viscosity 4/60 wt), hydraulic oils, lube oils, EAL fluids (PAG and PEG) or phosphate ester (optional configuration)

  • Oil enters through a 7 - 12 micron particulate filter element
  • A 110/220V single phase vacuum pump draws the filtered fluid in multiple passes over a maintenance free, oil dehydrating hollow fiber filter membrane bundle:
    • Oil molecules are rejected by the membrane while water molecules and dissolved gases permeate through and are expelled via the vacuum pump as vapor
    • The dehydrated oil exits the PH2oenixTM through the filter bundle's central support mandrel and back out to the oil system.

The PH2oenixTM is so versatile and simple to use that, when not in use as an oil dehydrator and purifier, it can be used a simple oil transfer filtration cart.

 

The PH2oenixTM is a "set and forget" machine, requiring very little operator attention. Simply connect the PH2oenixTM  to your system oil reservoir, plug into a 110 or 220V single phase power source and turn on.  Check for oil flow through the spinning oil flow indicator. Set and lock the vacuum level using the attached vacuum control valve. With the exception of breather and particulate filter element change-outs as needed, the PH2oenixTM requires only a 5 minute vacuum pump seal kit replacement every 1 to 1 1/2 years.

PH2oenixTM Oil Dehydrators Applications

Marine - The PH2oenixTM C1, C4 and C8 models can easily be pulled up gang planks, carried through hatches and used anywhere on a ship or tug where oil lube and hydraulic purification are required, even when a ships' lube or hydraulic system is online.  Applications include stern tubes, propeller pitch control systems, and z-drive gear boxes,

Windturbines - The PH2oenixTM Mini is small and portable enough to be lifted up and into a windturbine nacelle and so reliable that it can be left in operation 280 feet in the air, unattended, for months.

Paper Plants - The PH2oenixTM C1 answers oil emulsification problems due to water ingression in wet end/dryer lube systems, press section lube and hydraulics systems, boiler feed pump lube systems, caustizer gear boxes and cooling tower gear boxes.

Low oil hold up volume means limited oil loss between oil changes and 110 Volts makes it very easy to find power, turn on, set and forget. Available set ups for mineral oil or phosphate ester.

PH2oenixTMPortable Membrane Oil Dehydrators and Purifiers for Hazardous Duty Locations

The PH2oenixTM Hazardous Duty Series is designed to be used in areas where class 1 group C&D electrical requirements are needed including refineries, gas plants and oil rigs. The  PH2oenixTM X Series removes water and particulates from small to medium sized compressors, turbines, gear boxes and hydraulic systems. Three versions are available, depending on the type of utilities available:

PH2oenixTM  X

The PH2oenixTM X Series: Single Phase Electric and Compressed Air Models utilize a Class 1 Group C&D rated fluid pump, electric wiring and on/off switch along with a compressed air driven maintenance free vacuum venturi to generate vacuum for water removal. Utilities required are 110/220V single phase class 1 group C&D and compressed air 75-85 psig at 13 SCFM.

The PH2oenixTM XA Series: Compressed Air Models are designed for use in areas where single phase electric is not available but compressed air is. The PH2oenixTM XA is driven by a compressed air fluid pump motor and a maintenance free vacuum venturi to generate a vacuum for water dehydration and removal. This unit is variable flow of up to 8 gmp (oil viscosity and compressed air availability dependent).  The only utility required is oil free compressed air (does not have to be instrument grade) at 75-85 psig at between 13 and 50 SCFM.

PH2oenixTM  XA

The PH2oenixTM XE Series: Single Phase Electric Models are designed for use in areas where compressed air is not available. The PH2oenixTM XE utilizes all Class 1 group C&D electric components including an electric fluid pump motor and a Class 1 group C&D rated vacuum pump to generate vacuum for water dehydration and removal.

PH2oenixTMAquatrex Moisture Monitoring System

The optional PH2oenixTM Aquatrex Moisture Monitoring System measures the level of water contamination in your oil using a water sensor to display results on the Aquatrex PLC Touchscreen.

 

Especially useful to quantify intermittent water ingression, operators can program low and high water level set points, automatically powering up the water removing vacuum when the high level is reached and turning off the power when the acceptable low level point is reached. An integrated pump run time clock and cycle counter records timing and duration of cycle times.
